Tuesday 4th August - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Levington Marina – sunny
and still.
With hopefully some windsurf foiling this afternoon our original plan was
to have an early morning bike ride to Landguard for a cuppa but Mag
suggested we go over to Levington Marina instead. Leaving home at 7.30 in
wall to wall sunshine and very little wind we took the tree lined route
down to Loompit Lake where I stopped to take my first pic of the day, that
must be the longest I have ridden without taking a photo! The tide was very
low and the boats looked great in the mirror calm River Orwell. I can’t
resist taking reflection pics of the boats in the marina, we stopped to
chat to Jamie before heading around to the bench on the windsurf launch
area. We really enjoyed our cuppa watching the river action, boats heading
out, loads of birds feeding in the mud including Egrets, Godwits, Turns,
Oyster Catchers, Curlews, wagtails, Red Shanks and Dunlins, we even spotted
some fish in the shallows. We had a nice chat to a couple of photographers
who had walked up from Levington Creek before setting off for home as the
breeze picked up! So a great start to the day, out over three hours
covering 12 miles and all I have to do now is work out where to go
windsurfing?
